These Programs here are for the Retrievers that have successfully completed the Basic Retriever Program. The fundamentals that were learned there will serve as our building block and stepping stone.

Our training fees are very reasonable and start at only $425 per month!

Advanced Program:

Here, your retriever will learn various skills that define the difference between a good retriever and a GREAT retriever. This is also where your retriever will learn the skills they will need to compete in the more advanced levels of competition as well as molding them into a more versatile gundog. In our Advanced Program your retriever will be given the tools to compete in Seasoned, Senior, Finished, Master, Grand and All Age competition.

 

Blind Retrieves:

This is where your pup will learn to retrieve birds that they didn't see fall. These skills will be taught on both land and in water with the help of whistle and hand signals. The dog will be taught to sit on a whistle and use hand signals: left and right overs, left and right backs, left and right angled backs as well as left and right come in casts.

Honoring:

Here your retriever is trained to stay at the your side while he watches another dog make a retrieve. He will be required to remain steady and quiet while the other retriever works. This is very important when the situation occurs where two or more dogs are being hunted together.

Multiple Marked Retrieves:

Your retriever will be taught to mark and memorize the fall of multiple birds (2-4) at varying distances in the field and retrieve them with ease. They will be taught to mark efficiently in any cover. They will be trained in complex marshes, tall grass, rolling hills and various other more difficult and technical grounds. After this training your pup will be able to hunt from your blind with greater efficiency.

Diversions:

In the field your retiever will encounter situations where they are returning from or going to a retrieve when another bird comes in and is shot. Many times a dog has a crippled bird in it's mouth and drops it for another bird and you lose the one he dropped. This is an enormous temptation for the dog and this training teaches him to complete the initial retrieve before attempting another one.

Upland Program:

Thunder Force Kennels also has an Upland Program where we teach your pup to quarter and flush upland game. Here they will learn to hunt independently and be steady to shot and flush and then retrieve the downed game. They will be worked over multiple guns and work with another dog and will flush and retrieve quail, pheasant and chukar. Once your retriever has completed this course he will be able to run in Upland Hunt Tests and compete for an Upland Hunter(UH) title or be a part of your next Pheasant or Quail hunt. All dogs must have successfully completed the basic Program to be eligible for the upland program.
